I enjoy making bread pudding a lot, in this recipe I have used white bread but you can use any bread of your choice, the custard powder gives a thicker texture which I like, sometimes I change the spices, I have used cinnamon in this recipe, you could try cardamom, cloves, or allspice depending what you like . Then when it is out of the oven I serve it with ice cream or custard.
Ingredient:
- 7-8 slices bread
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup raisin
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 3 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- 1 tablespoon custard powder
- 2 table spoon melted butter
Directions:
- preheat the oven 180C/350F/gas mark 4, Brush a ovenproof dish with butter.
- Beat together eggs, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, butter and the milk in a bowl.
- In another small dish beat the custard powder with some of the milk and mix, then add this to the egg and milk mixture.
- Cut the bread in small pieces, arrange in the dish, sprinkling with the raisins as you go layering.
- pour the custard mixture over the bread,bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. serve warm with custard or vanilla ice cream.
