Sisin is another candied nut brittle made with sesame seeds , and is well favored by young and old.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups of sesame seeds
Directions:
- Grease a baking pan with oil set aside.
- Put the sugar in a pan and cook over a medium heat, stir with a wooden spoon until the mixture becomes thick in about 5 minutes.
- Add the sesame seeds and keep stirring when the mixture start to caramelize in to a golden color, remove from heat, continue to stir until the mixture comes together.
- Spread the sesame mixture in to the pan roll flat.
- When cool cut into desired shape.
Salaam! I was wondering how do you get the sisin shaped like a ball? when I put the mixture on the tray it turned really hard and wouldnt even break into squares… how do i get over this problem? jzk
Asalamu Alaikum, I think you might have cooked a bit longer, you can test with cold water drop the syrup in cold water then squeeze and see how soft it is. To form it into a ball first let it cool, take a spoonful in your hand and roll with little oil so it wont stick on your hand.
